13 Uneven Pose

Utkatasana

Stand in the Even Pose, with your hands by your sides and your feet together.

Inhale: The first few movements are the same as Salute to the Sun A (see page 32). Raise your arms over your head into the Prayer Position, then look up toward your thumbs, as shown.

Exhale: Bend forward and place your hands on the outside of, and in line with, your feet.

Inhale: Lift your head and look up to the “third eye.”

Exhale: Jump back into the Four-Limbed Stick (see page 34), with just hands and toes touching the floor.

Inhale: Straighten your arms and press into your palms as you roll over onto the tops of your feet for the Upward Dog pose (see page 34).

Exhale: Raise your buttocks, press into your palms, and roll backward over your toes onto the soles of your feet, into Downward Dog (see page 35).

Inhale: Jump your feet forward between your hands, bend your knees, and raise your arms above your head into the Prayer Position. Look up toward your thumbs, as shown.

Breath: Hold for five even breaths.

Exhale: Bend forward, place your hands on the outside of your feet, straighten your legs, and take your head down between your knees. Repeat the jump-back series, then return to a standing position.
